Fortunate Families, a Catholic Family, Friends & Allies Ministry, supports LGBTQ+ siblings by facilitating respectful conversation with bishops, pastors and Church leadership, through sharing personal stories and by working to establish intentional Catholic LGBTQ+ Ministry Sites in dioceses, parishes, educational institutions, and communities.

Through accompaniment and bridge-building we seek to celebrate and safeguard the dignity of LGBTQ+ children of God.

This ministry travels throughout the United States speaking about LGBTQ+ intentional welcome and LGBTQ+ Ministry within the Catholic Church including such topics as "Prudence and Possibilities,"  "Do Whatever He Tells You," "Orthodoxy Means Living Our Social Teaching," "What Is the Reason For Our Hope?" and "Fratellu Tutti: dialogue, not simply talking" helping those discerning or beginning Catholic LGBTQ+ Ministry.  There are Days of Discernment and Visioning, Days of Reflection, retreats for parishes, colleges, high schools, teachers, campus ministers and ministries, presbyterates, parish staffs, and communities of consecrated women and men.

One of our members, Brother Joy, is a full-time chaplain at a correctional facility in south Florida. He enjoys the ecumenical aspect of his ministry dealing with inmates and volunteers of many different religious beliefs or none at all. Brother Joy says that prison is a dark and lonely place and he seeks only to be a joy bringer to the brothers there through a smile, sincere respect, an enthusiastic and kind word or greeting and an open ear.

To find out more about this special ministry, please email Br. Joy at:

Quoterly outreach

There are many programs, agencies, and organizations in existence today which provide a wide range of support systems for those in need. The problem is that certain communities do not have the access, ability, and/or advocacy to successfully bridge the gap between need and provision. My mission is to provide support services for people from various walks of life, without discrimination, to restore a sense of normalcy and stability to their lives. While application processes can be time-consuming, multi-step, and confusing for some, the result of the effort is often transformational. I offer help for those applying for benefits, so my clients don’t have to go through the process alone. My vision is to offer services to improve the lifestyles of elderly, disabled, homeless, veterans and others who depend on assistance and/or require computer/phone technologies in order to complete and secure program benefits for which they qualify. My ultimate goal is to provide the values of encouragement, peace of mind and hope.
