"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."
The gospel of Matthew tells us: "You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house. Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father." (Matt 5: 14-16)
This idea of being a light for the world is an inspiring and encouraging message. We can drive out darkness with the light of Christ we carry in our hearts. Sometimes, however, this idea of being a light to others can feel rather vague. Here. are some simple ways to practice being light to the world. These things may seem trivial, but by sharing our light in small ways, we can drive out the darkness of sadness, despair, and hopelessness we see all around us in the world today.
